Over the years of baking, I have found what works and what doesn't work in the kitchen. I've found my favorite tools, appliances, and pans that make baking more simple and fun! There are a few more pricey items that I've invested in and can honestly say they are so worth it, while other tools are affordable and still just as great.

  1. If you enjoy making cakes, I always suggest having 6" and 8" cake pans. Although I have many more sizes of cake pans, these two sizes are the most used.

    1. A must-have when it comes to smoothing out cakes is this icing smoother. The smooth side is perfect for a naked cake or if you just want your buttercream to be perfectly smooth, while the side with ridges creates a fun look to the sides of the cake.

    2. Having an offset spatula is crucial for cake decorating. Swirling frosting on a cupcake or creating swirls on the top and sides of the cake, this offset spatula is the best. I prefer the smaller sized one because it's easier to work with.

    3. Having a cooling rack will save your life. OK that's dramatic but I use mine every time I bake cookies and cakes which is ALL THE TIME.

    4. One of my favorite things to bake is brownies or bars. This 9x13 baking panis the BEST.

    5. A dough blender or pastry cutter is great to have around for pies, crumbles, biscuits and any kind of pastry. I really don't know what I would do without this little tool. It's needed in several of my recipes including scones and blueberry crumb bars.

    6. I honestly could not live without myKitchen Aid Stand Mixer. This is a total investment that will pay off, I promise. I've had my Kitchen Aid mixer for about 6 years now and I've used it almost every day. From making almost every dessert to shredding chicken or whipping mashed potatoes, you will get a lot of use out of this mixer.

    7. A good cookie scoopis a MUST for baking! Whether it's for scooping cookie dough, muffins, cupcakes or energy bites, a cookie scoop makes life so much easier. The large oneis best for muffins and cupcakes while the medium one is great for smaller cookies.

    8. If you're hesitant about spending that much on a mixer upfront, the Kitchen Aid Hand Mixeris a wonderful alternative to start out with. It's lightweight and easy to use.

    9. Last but not least, these Williams Sonoma's Non-Stick Cookie Sheets are my favorite. I have 5 of them which is nice when I have one in the oven and want to continue scooping cookies on a few more. Even though they are non-stick, I always line mine with parchment paper because it helps the clean up process.
