“You’re not stuck at home, you’re safe at home. One word can change your attitude, and one cough can change your life.”-Timber Hawkeye

The coronavirus pandemic has definitely turned our lives upside down. Even though we’re safe at home, it’s easy to feel isolated and alone during this time.

I wrote this in my journal last week: “We’re still quarantined at home due to COVID-19 and it seems to be spreading across the country like wild fire. This time has been unique but also beautiful… It’s forcing us to slow down and cancel plans. To focus on what’s important. It’s teaching us to trust YOU, Lord.”

Although it’s hard at times, there have been several things that I have loved about the past few weeks of being quarantined at home and I hope it encourages you!

10 things That Make Me Happy During This Time:

  1. Spending more time in the Bible. I’ve been reading through Pslams this week and it talks about trusting in the Lord so much. It’s brought me such a peace during this unknown time. It’s so easy to fear and feel anxious but the Bible reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 4:6-7

If you’re feeling alone, scared or anxious right now, I encourage you to open your bible and turn to God. He is our source of peace and He is in control of every detail!

  2. Baking… No surprise there. One thing that has really brought me joy is seeing all of YOU baking every day and trying my recipes. It makes me feel like a proud mama and inspires me so much!

  3. Getting to spend more time with Daniel. The past few months have been so busy for us and it felt like we weren’t able to spend much quality time together. The past few weeks have been so nice getting to spend every night together and it has been such an answered prayer.

  4. Reading. This is such a great time to read a book and I have so many great recommendations! I just finished The Alice Network and it was incredible. It’s definitely a deep book but such a good read. I just started Educated after hearing so many great reviews on it and i’m already hooked. My other favorite books are The Nightingale, Where The Crawdads Sing, Secrets of A Charmed Life and The Women In The Window.

  5. Zoom calls with my family. My family is super close and it’s been really difficult not seeing them in what feels like forever. My dad and sister are both doctors and they’re working on the front lines at two big hospitals in Alabama. They’re my heroes and I am staying home for them. Zoom makes it feel like we’re all together again and I LOVE seeing my precious nephew each time. We even got to watch him try his first solid food on Zoom!

  6. Weezie Towels. I just got my first set of Weezie Towels a few weeks ago and I am so obsessed. I look forward to taking a shower or bath every single night just so I can wrap up in my soft new towels and then put on my Lake Pajamas. It’s the little things. I even hand-washed my towels last week because I’m so afraid that something will happen to them… HA.

  7. Goat Island Farm Vegetables-I recently discovered Goat Island Farm which is a local farm that delivers bags of fresh produce and I received my first delivery yesterday! This week they harvested lettuce, chard, kale, arugula, radishes, herbs, pea shoots, collards, bok choi and beets. I’m so excited to get creative and make some new recipes with all of this!

  8. Doing projects around the house. One of my friends recently shared that she’s tackling one project a day, even if it’s really small like organizing a cabinet. I loved that idea and I’ve tried to do the same with my house! This week, I’ve cleaned out and organized my dresser and made a huge pile of clothes to donate. I also cleaned some of our windows, hung some pieces of art up, organized my baking cabinets, and got a new ottoman that we’ve been needing.

  9. Taking better care of my body and my skin. A lot of times when I’m busy, I forget to take care of myself. I’ve done more masks, eye patches, and peels in the past few weeks than I ever have and it feels so good. You can see more of my skincare favorites here!

  10. Seeing our community, and our country, come together.

I encourage you to make a list of things that make you happy!

XOXO & stay home.
