Wow, it feels like just yesterday I was writing about my First Trimester, and now here I am! I’m 28 weeks pregnant this week and officially in my THIRD trimester!

My first trimester felt like it lasted a year, but the second completely flew by. I had so much more energy and felt like a new person.

The second trimester was so full. We had our gender reveal when I was 18 weeks pregnant, and it was such a special day getting to celebrate with both of our families. We threw a little party at my parents house in Montgomery, and we cut into a cake to reveal that we were having a BOY. It was the best day ever!

I ordered the cake from our favorite local bakery that made every birthday cake for us growing up and even made our wedding cake (Cake Designs). Our ultrasound tech sent them the results and they filled the cake with the most delicious blue buttercream.

I had a feeling it was a boy all along. :)

Shop:

Just a few weeks after, I had my anatomy scan at 20 weeks, and I felt like I could finally breathe after that. It was reassurance that our baby boy was healthy and growing, and it gave me so much peace. I could just stare at his precious profile all day long!

My belly reallyyy popped out at 20 weeks, and that was the first week I felt him kick. It’s truly the greatest feeling in the world. Daniel and I lay in bed every night and just watch my belly move as our little guy is doing flips. It’s such a miracle that I will never get over.

When I started getting my energy back, I was so excited to start on the nursery! I ordered a few things and you can read all about it HERE. I’m currently waiting on a dresser, drapes, crib skirt, chair, and an organizing shelf for the closet. I am definitely in the nesting phase of pregnancy!

Second Trimester Q&A:

Are you exercising?

I’ve been trying to walk or do something active every day, but I’m definitely not exercising as much as I did before I got pregnant. For a few weeks, my feet and body would ache every night, and I felt like I got hit by a truck. When I had my glucose test done (I passed, thank goodness), my blood work showed that I was anemic, and that was probably why I was feeling so bad. My doctor prescribed me iron, and I feel so much better now with much more energy! I’ve been really trying to listen to my body and not push myself too much.

Have you bought maternity clothes?

When my belly began to pop out, I immediately bought some maternity underwear and bras, and they have been a game-changer. Other than that, I really haven’t bought anything and I’ve been living in loose dresses that I had pre-pregnancy. One of my sweet friends let me borrow some of her old maternity jeans, and I think I’ll be wearing those a lot this fall/winter. I’m also looking forward to getting a maternity nightgown from Lake Pajamas!

New interests or topics you’ve researched?

I’ve been reading the book, “The Mama Natural,” and it was written by a lady who lives in my town. I’ve learned so much from it, and it has really opened my eyes.

How did you find out the gender? Blood test or ultrasound?

We found out at 18 weeks via ultrasound. I have lots of friends who have done the blood tests and loved it, but we personally wanted to wait to find out. We always said we will love this baby no matter what, so there was no need to do an early test.

Any cravings or aversions?

I really haven’t had many cravings or aversions lately. I have found that if I eat a lot, I can hardly breathe because there’s not much room left in my stomach, so I’ve been trying to eat smaller meals throughout the day. I’ve also been loving some chocolate milk :)

Has nausea followed you to the 2nd trimester or left?

My nausea stopped around week 10 and I was SO thankful!

What has your diet been like?

I’ve tried to eat healthy for the most part and drink lots of water throughout the day. I’ve been eating a lot of apples with peanut butter, pears, pumpkin bread, baked oatmeal, and soups. Give me all the fall foods!

Favorite part of pregnancy so far?

Definitely getting to feel like kick and move around! It’s so surreal. I love that Daniel can feel him now, too!

December can’t get here soon enough!
